The Vinyl Triangle

Updated: Jan 20, 2024

Witham'n'Blues refers to The Vinyl Triangle, a trio of used record shops that are located in the south of the county. In fact, one is so far south that it's actually located over the border in Whittlesey in neighbouring Cambridgeshire. At the time of writing that border is probably underwater as that part of the fens of is. Bob's Records in Whittlesey, Uptown Vinyl at Weston near Spalding and a small shop in Market Deeping (now closed) formed the corners of this triangle.

Vinyl aficionados have been known to travel from as far afield as Lincoln and London to visit these shops. Each shop has its own distinctive character and style , that's what makes visiting them such an enticing prospect.

Lincolnshire and its environs has some great record stores that go out of their way to be helpful... and some of them are superb.

Back to Mono in Lincoln is also mentioned in Witham 'n' Blues and Jim, the owner, is a legend on the local Lincoln music scene. Jim is incredibly knowledgeable and has a shop filled with wonderful stock.

A new shop, Imagine Records, has just opened on Newport in uphill Lincoln. There's also Elliott's Vinyl Records on Grantham Street, just off the top of the High Street by Pizza Express.

Another shop well worth a visit, and also mentioned in the book, is Off the Beaten Tracks on Aswell Street in Louth.

It would be very possible for dedicated vinyl collectors to base themselves in the county and plan sorties to dig in the crates of vinyl that might just contain what they've been chasing for years!
