Book launch at The Cardinal's Hat, Lincoln, April 2

Updated: Apr 19, 2024

Mike was asked a series of questions about how he came to write his book. He talked about his fascination with Lincolnshire and how the county seemed to have a bit of an 'image problem', what Matthew Engel called 'issues of low self-esteem'. He quoted Bill Bryson who said Lincolnshire 'was far from everywhere'.

Mike spoke of his passion for music and how in the book he'd tried to combine both interests.

Mike also mentioned some of the comic writers that he enjoyed reading and he singled out in particular Spike Milligan's short novel 'Puckoon' saying that he read this book at least once every year!

The launch was held in the upstairs chamber of The Cardinal's Hat pub at the top of Lincoln's High Street.

Local bookshop Lindum Books, of Bailgate, Lincoln, sold copies of the books on the evening and Mike was on hand to sign them.
